Hello and welcome to our page! At HealthAndLifestyle.co.nz we believe that the key to a happy and healthy lifestyle comes from your health and fitness. We understand the importance of regular exercise and a healthy diet in your lifestyle. Not only does living healthy make you feel better in general, but it will also increase the quality of your life. In the current world, it is very easy for people to become lazy, after all, you can now receive most things that you need simply from the click of your mouse! As a result, people all around the world have become overweight, with the New Zealand Ministry of Health Survey of 2016/17 statingthat around 34% of adults (aged 15 and over) are currently overweight, with around 1 in 3 adults being in the ‘obese’ category. Such a statistic itself is shocking and we want to change that.

 

Exercise

Exercise is a fundamental aspect to any healthy lifestyle. It is advised by the government that you should complete around 1 hour of exercise three to five days a week. Whilst this is difficult, it is possible to fit an hour in before or after work, as well as at the weekend. We believe that there are many ways in which you can exercise, all of which have a range of benefits for your body. Here are the best ways we think you can exercise:

Sports teams are a fantastic way to stay fit and healthy. Not only will you have the opportunity to meet new people, but you will have the opportunity to compete against other teams playing the sport that you love and enjoy.

We believe that nutrition is one of most crucial factors when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. Whilst physical exercise itself is important, without the input of a healthy diet, the impacts of exercise may become limited. A healthy and balanced diet is not only key to your fitness but also a happy lifestyle. Whilst it is now easier than ever to simply order a takeaway or re-heat a packaged meal, scientifically these meals are providing you with little to no benefits. A balanced and nutritional diet will not only provide your body with the vitamins and nutrients that it needs in order to operate, but will also help you get closer to any fitness objectives that you have set.

On our site, we have experts within the nutrition industry post about the benefits and cons of a range of different diets, as well as inform you about the diets that they have followed in the past. This abundance of information will allow you to learn about the different diet types available, we well as the benefits that different food groups can have on your body. We believe that by educating people about the benefits of various foods and diets, we can help people understand what diets are best suited for them. Now we’re not expecting anyone to change their diet in one day, in fact we would advise against this. However, we believe that by teaching people the benefits that food can have on their body, they will begin to incorporate new and healthier foods into their own diet.

Keeping a steady gym routine going is a fantastic way to keep fit and healthy as well as a way to socialise and meet new people. You can even bring a friend with you to keep things new and exciting.

Martial arts are a great way to learn new skills and disciplines. They are also a great chance to get yourself into very good shape! In these classes you will have the opportunity to meet new people, whilst learning new skills together!

Our mission is to inform people all around New Zealand about the benefits of exercise, with the hope of persuading them to take up exercise in one form or another. We understand that for many people, this may be daunting at first, especially with so much pressure on people to go to the gym. However, exercise can be done outside of the gym through participation in sports and other activities. Our mission is to promote the benefits of such activities, from the social side to the physical benefits themselves. Together, we believe that we can make the world a happier and healthier place.
